Company description

Greenshank is making the world a better place. Greenshank supplies the natural capital developers need to get planning permission and that nature needs to recover. We have over 6,000 Biodiversity Net Gain units across 30 habitat banks, and the UK's largest supply of nutrient mitigation: 12 sites that have unlocked more than 15,000 homes. We're now expanding into other ecosystem services.

Through strong partnerships with landowners and acquiring land, Greenshank designs best-in-class natural capital schemes that fully comply with evolving regulations and deliver measurable benefits for nature.

The team has played a leading role in industry innovation, contributing guidance for Natural England and influencing regulations and policy, making Greenshank a trusted partner in sustainable development.

Role description

The Business Development Manager will work as the focal point for sales to both the buyers and influencers in the house building process. This includes house builders, planners and ecologists in a named geographical region. Our marketing and SDR functions will feed the BDM qualified leads, which you will need to turn into signed business and long-lasting relationships. You will also be responsible for breaking new ground with new contacts and building relationships of your own.

What you'll do

  • Manage your regional pipeline from qualified lead to signed contract
  • Prepare and deliver proposals and presentations
  • Negotiate commercial terms
  • Build relationships with new contacts and grow your own network in the region
  • Keep our CRM accurate, and help improve the sales tools and processes the team relies on
  • Meet clients and visit sites across the region as required.

What we are looking for

We want to hire outliers. People who are systems thinkers, problem solvers and can find innovative solutions that deliver value to the wider team and client base.

In sales, Natural Capital knowledge is great, but not required. We care more about how fast you learn than how long you've been in the industry.

We are a tech-enabled business, and we will give you tools to help you make winning business a repeatable process. In exchange, you will need to contribute to the maintenance of the data and give back to the wider team by helping develop these tools.

  • A love of nature and a belief that business can be a force for good
  • Proven ability to close interesting sales
  • Commercial nous and creativity
  • Knowledge of NatCap, ecology, property or planning is good, but not required
  • Strong communication, presentation, and persuasion skills, with the ability to explain complex concepts clearly to technical and non-technical audiences
  • Not afraid of using AI at work, while being suitably worried about where it's all heading
  • A team player while working independently in a remote environment. Team meetings are every 6 weeks, but you will probably see more of them at client meetings and industry events.
